This is probably the closest I ever came to making *actual* 8-bit music (called "Ultraviolet", 2018). And it has a sick breakdown section!!
I limited myself to one (ONE!) note per channel, and used exclusively NES VST and the Mario Paint drum soundfont. No EQ or effects 😎
